TRULY A COMPLETE TACTICAL MANUAL

The Complete Guide to Coaching Soccer Systems and Tactics eBook Jacob Daniel

The writing is spare and to the point. You will come away with a good understanding of basic formations, why they are played and how they are countered. There is a discussion of shape and plenty of time spent explaining positions and roles. The book relies very heavily on diagrams which are not all that easy to read. If you are accessing this book via e-reader the pages of text won't necessarily be adjacent to these diagrams. That means lots of flipping back and forth and the book certainly loses its power here. The target audience is the coach rather than the player because this is all about tactics rather than skill improvement. There are drills and small sided practice plans here as well but I didn't encounter anything that I haven't seen in other coaching books. The real value of this book has been to put formation and shape into a larger context as the framework for your coaching philosophy.

The Complete Guide to Coaching Soccer Systems and Tactics eBook Jacob Daniel Reviews

Good Basic Ideas for a coaching that is starting out or young in their coaching career. It is simple and concise.
Excellent service and great reference book; will buy again!
Jacob's work is seminal, benchmarking and enduring...the physics will not change if we continue to use the standard number 5 and on grass or turf, and so Jacob's work is biblical and everlasting.

Proud to be a student of his!

Eric U Williams - The Soccer Football Whisperer
For youth coaches with limited or no soccer background, this is an essential book.
Teaches tactics, catch-words and so much more if you just don't have time to watch every match on TV.
Read this book even if you just watching soccer/football on TV. It will help you to understand and appreciate the game more.
It is good, but I would say it is for the more advanced game, and the youth game may suffer if you focus on these tactics more than on footskills for the younger players. The part I like is the list of concepts for defending and attacking. This is what I hope that my daughter could imprint into her head.
This is one excellent book, like the name says its the complete guide to coaching soccer systems and tactics. It explains to you the theory behind the moves and makes it easy for you to understand by providing graphics on ball and player movements, for example movements from those players, like Beckham and other teams. This book shows you the principles of attack, when to move, how and teaches the theory behind. Take in consideration that games are not constant and that principles learn will always change depending on the game play.
The book also cover the principles of defense, man-to-man marking, zonal defending, ball channeling, and team formations, e.g. 3-5-2. Apart from teaching system and tactics, it also teaches the coach on how to go ahead and pass on the message to his players so that they execute well. Its not all about showing and telling the players what moves to do, but to analyze the game and always, but always be conscious of his team-mates and that everybody makes the team win.

This is a book one should start with. LIKE IT!
